High School VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
St. Joseph's Hospital Student Volunteen Program |
Volunteers are an important part of the Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital health care team. Each day, volunteers contribute significantly to the hospital's mission and promise "by working together to keep patients first in everything we do.”
Volunteering at Ministry Saint Joseph’s is an exciting and rewarding opportunity that matches caring people with services that provide comfort and help to our patients and their families.
Our volunteers are people of all ages committed to helping others. Teenagers, retirees, parents, college students, and working professionals each offer something special.
Hospital volunteers develop new skills and meet new people while learning more about medicine and the health care profession. Volunteering is an excellent way for a newcomer - employee or spouse - to get acclimated with the medical campus and the community of Marshfield.
The Student Volunteen Program is designed specifically for high school students ages 14 through 18 who are interested in donating their time serving the patients and families of Ministry Saint Joseph’s.
Orientation Sessions are scheduled once a year. For next year, the orientation dates are March 16th, 2013 and March 18th, 2013. Students should contact the volunteer coordinator prior to March 1, 2013 to be added to the invitation list.

United Way of Inner Wisconsin Volunteer Center |
Our vision statement is "Building a Community of Volunteers!" If you are looking for a cool way to LIVE UNITED, look no farther than the Volunteer Center.
How can you get involved in volunteering? There are several ways!
- You can browse our website to find the perfect volunteer opportunity that fits your interests and schedule. You will need to create an account if you'd like to retrieve any contact information from an agency.
- Watch the Daily Tribune every Saturday to see the "Volunteer Opportunities of the Week." This can also be viewed in the Voice, GoRapids.com, and on River Cities Community Access.
- Or, just give the Volunteer Center a call at 715-421-0390 so we can discuss your interests and match you to an agency that needs your help! You can also email Angie Loucks, the Volunteer Center Coordinator at angie@uwiw.org.
- You can also get started in volunteering by participating in our Day of Caring, an annual event where volunteer groups rake leaves for our local elderly/disabled.
Every April we also host the annual Volunteer Recognition Breakfast! We welcome volunteer nominations from the whole community. Then we honor each nominee and recognize ALL volunteers during breakfast!
Why Volunteer?
The reasons to volunteer are numerous. Volunteering looks great on job/college applications and it's an opportunity to learn new skills and make friends. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, volunteering could even add years and vitality to your life. People who give of their time and talents report higher levels of happiness, which in turn improves overall well-being by lowering stress levels, blood pressure and feelings of isolation. If you are thinking about volunteering, now is a great time to start!
