If you are a student who wants to achieve greater academic success and retention, this is the course for you. The framework of the course will be based upon Skip Downing’s Book On Course, which is used in freshmen level orientation classes at colleges and tech school around the nation. Students in this course will learn an assortment of highly-effective methods that appeal to a variety of learning styles and will help you take charge of your own learning. These learning techniques are taken from the best ideas from psychology, education, business, sports, and personal stories. Areas of influence to be covered will include getting on course, self-responsibility, self-motivation, self-management, interdependence, self-awareness, life-long learning, emotional intelligence, and self-esteem. This class is a great idea for seniors who are planning on college or tech school in the fall after graduation.
