Course Description: This course will examine and evaluate the meaning of psychology, its history, and its major systems and theories. We will study the basics of psychological research, the influence of the brain on human behavior and emotions, and the interaction of physical, psychological and social factors in the human life cycle. In addition, we will consider the interaction of sensation and perception, the difference between conscious and unconscious thought, the meaning of abnormality, and its ways in which we learn and think. Our major question for this class is, “WHY DO WE ACT THE WAY WE DO?”
