From the Office of Mrs. Friday, PK - 8 Principal

Welcome to Pittsville Elementary School (Grades 4K-5) and Pittsville Junior High (Grades 6-8). Our student population is about 400 and we have approximately 50 staff members who make our school an inviting, safe, and wonderful learning environment with high expectations for all students. Our school is located in the center of the state, in a rural community, with such wonderful community support! The students and staff focus on our four Panther Traits: Responsible, Respectful, Honorable, and Engaged. We feel these traits help students be successful in school and in their lives. Our school-wide approach with PBIS helps staff members stay consistent as we hold students accountable for their actions in a kind, caring, and respectful way.

Even though our district is small, with the support of the community, we offer many wonderful opportunities for our students. This summer many students participated in swimming lessons that were possible because of community volunteers and families helping with organizing and transportation. BeHIP is a dance program sponsored by the Fire Department. The students practice throughout the summer and then participate in an amazing dance recital in August! Prairie Fire Children's Theater was in town and students had the opportunity to practice their acting skills as they were the stars of the production, Jack and the Beanstalk.

I am honored to be in such a wonderful district. Being an elementary school and junior high school in one building, we have the best of both worlds here in Pittsville!
